You know how people say “shoot for the moon, even if you miss you’ll land among the stars”?

Actually, besides the sun, the closest star is over 4 light-years away

So if you miss, you’ll just be floating through the dark void of space for the rest of eternity until you are dead, just like your dreams

Yufei would probably say it’s my “dark side” coming out but I love everything about these. “You’ll be dead just like your dreams.” “The star is dead just like your dreams.” etc.

I think I like them because it shows how futile something like wishing on stars is. Go after your dreams, work hard to fulfill them. Don’t look at the sky and ask the heavens or the stars to fulfill your wishes. Get your head out of the clouds and face reality. People who live in fantasy land are never going anywhere.

It reminds me of my favorite line out of almost all of the Disney movies I’ve ever watched, “I remember Daddy told me, fairytales can come true. You gotta make ‘em happen. It all depends on you.”

Because it does. The stars don’t grant your wishes. You do.
